While many agree that drug court programs work, researchers generally have not examined any conceptual frameworks for why. Twenty-six graduates of a county drug court were interviewed about their views of the program. Findings suggest that this program was effective because 1) its model of treatment assisted participants in their reintegration back into society without further stigmatizing them; 2) it provided a form of "outer containment" that held participants' behaviors in check; and 3) the treatment options strengthened participants' own internal control mechanisms. Braithwaite's (1989) theory of reintegrative shaming and Reckless' (1961) containment theory offer important frameworks for understanding these findings. Implications for future research and policy are discussed.

Objective: Qualitative research methodologies are being used more frequently in audiology as it allows for a better understanding of the perspectives of people with hearing impairment. This article describes why and how international interdisciplinary qualitative research can be conducted. Design: This paper is based on a literature review and our recent experience with the conduction of an international interdisciplinary qualitative study in audiology. Results: We describe some available qualitative methods for sampling, data collection, and analysis and we discuss the rationale for choosing particular methods. The focus is on four approaches which have all previously been applied to audiologic research: grounded theory, interpretative phenomenological analysis, conversational analysis, and qualitative content analysis. Conclusions: This article provides a review of methodological issues useful for those designing qualitative research projects in audiology or needing assistance in the interpretation of qualitative literature.

Internal data from computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining centers are widely used in the development of intelligent monitoring systems recently. These systems are used to monitor the machining process in series production for early identification of defects. However, it is important to monitor systems for small series and prototype production processes based on internal data from machining centers, particularly for setting the proper cutting conditions, evaluate process stability, and identify the increase in the spindle load due to the cutting tool wear. In addition to monitoring common parameters, such as acoustic emission, vibration, shape, or color of the chips, the experienced operator could also monitor the actual load values of the drives or any other internal machine tool variables that could help significantly speed up the setting up of a machining process and significantly increase production efficiency even in a small production series. Therefore, an approach to easily operate the machining process monitoring platform was developed and utilized to record and display internal machine tool data via open platform communications unified architecture (OPC UA) communication.

The primary objective of the study is to determine the influence of internal marketing on the brand image of a recruitment agency brand in South Africa. The perusal of the literature could not identify any direct studies on how the elements of the internal marketing mix of product, price, promotion, distribution, people, processes and physical evidence are ultimately linked to brand image within a recruitment agency environment in South Africa. This raises the question as to whether or not internal marketing has a positive influence on the brand image of recruitment agencies among their clients. Therefore the relationship between internal marketing and brand image needs to be explored, as this relationship could provide a means of reducing employee turnover and enhancing the performance and profitability of recruitment agencies. The population for the study was drawn from all registered recruitment agencies listed under the Association of Personnel Services Organisations (APSO). The selected sample of respondents was surveyed through an online self-administered survey distributed via a link in an email. A total of 1 123 questionnaires were completed. The data was analysed using multivariate regression statistics. The application of an internal marketing approach enables recruitment agencies to minimise employee turnover, aiding these agencies to gain strong brand images that result in higher levels of competitiveness and profitability. Successful internal marketing should have a positive influence on employee attitudes and actions and therefore enhance customer satisfaction. The integration of internal marketing into the organisation's overall marketing strategy is therefore critical.

This study investigated how particular within-group variables (gender, marital status, and duration of stay in the United States) affected Korean international students' perceived preferences for counselling style (directive vs. nondirective). It was found that counselling style and the within-group variables considered interacted to affect differentially Korean international students' perceived preferences for counselling style. Female students showed stronger preference for a directive counselor and a significant interaction was found among marital status, duration of stay, and counselling style.

The present study examined how individualism, collectivism, and counselor emphasis of client expression (cognition vs. emotion) are related to perceived counselor effectiveness among South Korean international students. Data were collected through mail surveys from 127 South Korean international students attending a Midwestern university. As hypothesized, results from a hierarchical multiple regression analysis demonstrated that the participants perceived the counselor who emphasized the expression of client emotion as more effective than the counselor emphasizing the expression of client cognition. Contrary to expectations, however, the interactions between cultural variables and counselor emphasis of client expression were not significantly predictive of perceived counselor effectiveness. Implications for counseling practice and future research are discussed.

Education has been categorized as an intangible service industry based on the characteristics of its service activities by Christopher [3]. In order to enhance the service quality of education it is critical to attain a high degree of satisfaction of teachers, who are the internal customers, which will help to increase the degree of satisfaction of students, who are the external customers of education. As a result, it is expected that the general quality of education services will be enhanced. This study measures the degrees of satisfaction among teachers and evaluates the importance of various factors in the teaching environment that are critical to teachers' job satisfaction. The results of an analysis based on teachers' gender, career, and workplace indicate that the most critical factors are performance-based reward systems and welfare programs.

Summary This study explores the dynamic of the client-consultant relationship as perceived by the former. Our research is based on four French case studies. It was possible to examine clients' and consultants' perceptions, as well as those of neutral parties such as senior managers, external consultants and trade unionists. The results challenge the traditional view according to which the consultant finds it difficult to "be a prophet in his own land". Consultants' proximity and commitment to managers are confirmed, and they are unexpectedly credited with a high level of technical expertise. They are aware of state-of-the-art knowledge and external best practices.
